On Wednesday, November 8th, the Mission celebrated another Missionary Training Program Graduation. The Open Bible Church graciously hosted the event and provided lunch for the Mission guests, staff, board members and other guests who were in attendance. Two men were honored for their work in completing their four month long training program. Bill received a certificate for completing Missionary Training I. Earlier this year, Bill had an overwhelming sense from God that he needed to come to Casper, and was given one of the Mission's "Real Help" cards by someone he met. Bill began the Mission's Discipleship Program as part of his residential program plan. He shares, "What I am learning in my classes gives me a reason to go on. I have something in my life that wasn't there before; a peace and contentment I never had. I've had homes and businesses, but never had a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction. The Lord has given me an over-filling of peace." Bill will be attending Missionary Training Program II which begins in mid-November. Larry, our second graduate, received his completion certificate for Missionary Training Program II. Like Bill, God brought Larry to the Mission and has helped him to find the emotional stability he was seeking. Larry has been blessed by a real, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Having competed both sessions of Missionary Training, Larry is now in an internship program working in the Mission's kitchen. Larry has a real joy on his face and in his heart as he serves Jesus, and Jesus' love shines through in the love and care Larry gives in his ministry to our guests. It is true that this is the smallest graduating class the Mission has had in a long time. Yet we thank God for the opportunity to serve these two men. It is a blessing to see God continue to work in their lives. Though we had a small class this time, the number of men coming into our residential program is booming. The Missionary Training Program is filling up with men who are interested in learning how God can help them make lasting change in their lives. We are excited that God has brought us more people who are truly interested in working on the issues that brought us to homelessness, and look forward to supporting them in their journey that leads them to their goal of successful independent living. |
